Your lifelong love of rowing starts now!

Interested in rowing? You're in the right place. Rowing has many entry points - middle school, high school... you can even walk on in college. When you start is up to you and everyone starts somewhere. NBC offers middle school and high school learn to row programs along with open houses during the season for people to try the program.

Middle School

Learn to row with our experienced coaches. Athletes will start rowing on both land and water, building the physical and technical abilities needed to become a great rower! This is for 7th and 8th grade athletes. Programs are offered: 

  • September 8- October 31st
  • Monday/ Wednesday 3:30-5:15 PM or Tuesday/ Thursday 3:30-5:15

Middle School Competitive

Build the skills to row and race for NBC. Athletes will work with experienced, fun coaches to hone their rowing skills while working in a team setting. Athletes will set goals for both themselves and the team. The middle school teams season will culminate in racing at the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, New York (October 25-26th; Saratoga, NY). This program is geared toward eight grade athletes with prior rowing experience and/ or a strong commitment to learning to row. Seventh grade athletes will be considered with the approval. 

  • September 8-October 31st
  • Monday-Thursday 4-6 PM
  • Race Schedule: Head of the Fish October 25-26th (scrimmages TBA)

Novice Rowing - High School

Rowing is a unique sport that allows first year rowers to compete in their own exclusive category of racing which is called novice. Novices athletes can be any age/grade as long as they have not yet raced. An athlete is considered  a novice for a full year. High school novice athletes train alongside our Varsity team are eligible to compete in both novice and varsity categories as they progress. See more information here.

  • Monday-Friday 4-6:30 PM; Saturday 7-10 AM

Zephyr/ Explorer Recreation

Want to work at your own pace with a group of great coaches committed to fun and safety? Come row in our Zephyr/ Explorer group. Coaches will meet athletes where they are and develop them in a small group setting using small boats (singles and doubles). This program is open to junior athletes of all ages (middle and high school).

  • September 8- October 31st
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-5:15
  • Space is limited; class will operate once enrollment minimum reached

Open House

Come join us for few hours on the Seekonk to learn what the sport is all about. Bring your friends and learn about the programs offered at NBC. We hold multiple open houses throughout the year so please check to see if you can fit one in your schedule:
